Project Read's Read for the Record

Project Read presented our third annual Read for the Record event with six satellite sites. Sixty-eight low-income children attended our main event at the Daly City War Memorial. This event featured the Daly City Mayor as witness and the City Manager reading Corduroy. Our tutor/student coordinator read the book in Spanish. We had over twenty volunteers helping with craft activities, refreshments from Starbucks, and a visit from the fire department. Our event culminated with a visit from a life-sized Corduroy! Children got their pictures taken and received goodie bags from Corduroy. Two hundred and sixty two preschool children were read to at our satellite sites. We gave out a total 300 (200 in English & 100 in Spanish)copies of Corduroy.
