Dear Friend of Jumpstart,

We did it! Thanks to your participation on October 8, 2009, Jumpstart's Read for the Record made history by reading Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar to 2,019,752 children across the country and around the world!

I wanted to extend my utmost appreciation for your support of Jumpstart’s Read for the Record campaign, presented in partnership with the Pearson Foundation! Thanks to your support, more than 275,000 books were donated to children. For many of these children, it was their very first book!

This one day of reading also helps to raise funds for Jumpstart’s yearlong literacy program. More than 3,500 trained mentors are working with preschool children in low-income communities across the country. Andrew is one of those mentors. He helps Malcolm, his partner child, learn the skills he needs to be prepared for kindergarten and beyond!

Thank you again for reading with us and helping us raise awareness about America’s early literacy crisis!

Sincerely,
James Signature-Small
